Modern Times is the brainchild of Joel Malin and Amy Voterakis, collectors of pieces from designers such as Hans Wegner, Arne Vodder, Kai Kristiansen and Charles Eames.
Amy also saw an opportunity to involve local designers who she admires for their personal take on mid-century style: “I love seeing the style of the 50s and 60s reinvigorated by contemporary designers, it really freshens things up and they work in so well with the vintage pieces”.
Amy encourages us to get hands-on with the amazing pieces on offer. “Just sitting for a while or even lying down can help you imagine what it’s like to use that particular sofa everyday and, while there isn’t a television, there are plenty of design books and magazines to kick back with!” Amy says.
While the Pop-up comes down on Monday, there’s already been enough interest for the pair to consider popping up elsewhere or maybe do something a little more permanent!
Go check it out if you’re in town.
