Sydney-based design group The Green Room channel a history of international art, interior and design expertise to bring Australia a curated collection of luxury rugs from The Rug Company.

Founded by husband and wife creative duo Maxine Fielding and Olly Adam, The Green Room offers design lovers the opportunity to own a range of unique and beautiful luxury rugs from some of the world’s foremost designers.

Over the past two decades, founders Olly and Maxine have worked internationally in the art, interior and design industries, earning a reputation as sought-after advisors, style influencers, and creative collaborators across a range of sectors, including fashion, interiors, art and music.

The Green Room was founded to channel Maxine and Olly’s love of picturesque environments and surroundings. The pair had a desire to create a place where you can expect the unexpected, surrounded by wonderful things. The Sydney design hub of Surry Hills was the natural spot for their boutique shop, which opened in 2019.

The boutique Green Room store stocks a beautiful selection of iconic rugs by The Rug Company’s impressive roll-call of designers, including the stunning Carnival by Paul Smith, Tracery by Kelly Wearstler, Framis by Mary Katrantzou and Smoke by Adam Hunter, as well as various others. Paul Smith’s Carnival is a champion of eclectic British fashion, expressing his ‘classic with a twist’ style into rug form. Carnival, like all his creations, is infused with a sense of humour that beautifully marries with a love and respect for tradition.

Tracery demonstrates Kelly Wearstler’s luxurious style, with its distinctive designs and sophisticated, soulful vibes, expressed in a functional, charming style. Juxtaposing raw with refined, melding colour, sophistication and spontaneity, Tracery is a perfect feature rug.

Dubbed “The Queen of Print,” Mary Katrantzou’s cult brand changed the face of 21st century fashion, and the Framis is a perfect encapsulation of that. The rug reflects Katranzou’s signature ornate ‘more than meets the eye’ aesthetic, and marks the designer’s 10 year anniversary of her label.

Adam Hunter’s Smoke brings the celebrity-favourite designer’s elegant drama to the home. Hunter’s sophisticated style has been in demand for private houses across California and beyond, and with Smoke, his organic, neutral-toned aesthetic is now available in Australian homes, perfect for adding a sense of sumptuous, luxurious style.
