What am I ? A Belgian Rice Sisal Rug

Materials: Pure Wool, Pure sisal and Natural Latex
About me: The story of this Belgian Sisal begins with the selection of the fibre.Sisal (Agave sisalana) is an agave that yields a stiff fibre traditionally used in making twine, rope and dartboards. The term may Sisal refer either to the plant or the fibre, depending on context. The first test is lustre. Is the fibre richly lustrous? Good sisal has an intense sheen. The second test is the staple length of the fibres. Are they long? Will they spin well? And when spun, will they have great strength?

Remember, sisal used to be used tie up ships, Then comes the magic. The weaving. The interplay of warps (the fibres which run on the length) and wefts (the fibres which run across the material). They create the texture.
Expect to find many different weaves at Natural Floorcovering Centres – the home of pure sisal. It might be a weave of long glistening undulating ridges of pure sisal, a latticed marriage of pure wool and pure sisal, or a chunky sisal weave in earthy flecks. All achieved from natural fibres, naturally.
