All together now at Nightingale Village

It’s a monumental project in sustainability initiatives and worthy of taking out The Multi-residential category at the INDE.Awards 2023!

Conceived by six architects, the winner of The Multi-Residential Building category in the 2023 INDE.Awards has been named as Nightingale Village.

Architecture architecture, Austin Maynard Architects, Breathe, Clare Cousins Architects, Hayball and Kennedy Nolan collaborated on this landmark project located in Brunswick, Victoria. The project is sustainable on every level and presents a new paradigm in living for the residents.

The 2023 INDE.Awards jury summed up the reasons why the project received the winning accolade, “Nightingale Village is a true leader of design in both its architecture and liveability. While sustainability is key and underpins the essence of the project, it is the combined architectural offerings from the many practices involved that have ensured that this project is a resounding success. This is great architecture that enhances the lives of people.”

The six distinct buildings that comprise the project are, ParkLife designed by Austin Maynard Architects; Urban Coup designed by Breathe with Architecture Architecture; Nightingale Skye House designed by Breathe; Nightingale Evergreen designed by Clare Cousins Architects; Nightingale CRT + YRD designed by Hayball; Nightingale Leftfield designed by Kennedy Nolan.

At the heart of the concept is an architecture that provides the social, environmental and financial sustainability principles of Nightingale Housing that creates homes for people, not for profit.

Nightingale Village comprises 203 homes, with eight commercial tenancies at street level. The project aims to create connected communities and to help residents build familiarity. Apartments per building are limited, with 27 homes in Nightingale Evergreen and up to 43 homes in Nightingale Skye House. A mix of typologies includes 17 ‘Teilhaus’ apartments throughout the precinct.

As a template for the future, there is none better than Nightingale Village, and we congratulate the architects for their outstanding work that touches and indeed changes the lives of people.

Bosch is the partner of The Multi-Residential Building category and as a designer, manufacturer and distributor of exceptional products for the kitchen and laundry, understands what it means to deliver best practice and lead by design. Nightingale Village is setting the agenda for residential living both in Australia and around the Indo-Pacific region.
